General Questions

How do I use the navigation bezel to properly navigate?
In the Northern Hemisphere:
  1. Hold the watch flat.
  2. Point the hour hand at the sun.
  3. Find the midpoint between the hour hand and 12 o'clock.
  4. That midpoint points roughly south.
  5. Rotate the bezel so S lines up with that direction. The other directions then follow.

In the Southern Hemisphere, you usually point 12 o'clock at the sun, then find the midpoint between 12 and the hour hand; that midpoint is roughly north.

There is moisture in the watch - what should I do?

Moisture inside a watch is a problem that should be treated quickly. The most common cause is the crown wasn't fully pushed/screwed down or a seal failed.

What to do now:

  • Keep the watch dry and stop using it.
  • Do not put it in rice. Rice is a poor desiccant and can add dust or starch; it also does nothing to remove moisture already inside the movement.
  • Do not heat it with a hair dryer, radiator, or direct sun.
  • Get it to a watchmaker as soon as possible so they can open it, dry it properly, inspect for rust, and replace any compromised seals. You can also return to Ridgeline Timepieces for servicing but do so immediately to prevent any further damage.

If you only see a faint bit of fog that disappears quickly, that can still mean moisture entered the case. If the fog lingers, returns repeatedly, or shows droplets, treat it as urgent service.

Do your watches come with a warranty?

All Ridgeline models comes with an unlimited 5-year warranty that covers all manufacturing and mechanical defects (does not include customer caused flood or abuse).  Additionally, Ridgeline Timepieces offers free lifetime servicing and movement regulation for all models (shipping for servicing and regulating not included).

All custom unit watches come with a lifetime warranty that covers everything.

Products Questions

How water resistant are Ridgeline watches?

Our watches are rated to 100 meters (10 ATM) — suited for swimming, rain, and rugged daily wear, though not for diving.

My watch stopped running - what should I do?

For an automatic watch:

  1. Unscrew or pull the crown to the winding position - usually the first position.
  2. Turn the crown to wind it. It may feel a little resistant or rough; that's normal.
  3. Make sure you are not in the time-setting position. If pulling the crown farther lets you move the hands, that's the wrong position for winding.
  4. After winding, wear it for about 8 hours so normal wrist movement can build up the power reserve.
  5. If it still stops after that, it may need inspection or service.

For a quartz watch:

  • The battery is the first thing to suspect.
  • If it has stopped completely, replace the battery first.
Can I change the strap myself?

Yes. All models use a standard 20mm lug width with quick-release spring bars, so you can swap straps in seconds — no tools required.
